Our Mission

The True Professional’s mission is to improve the quality of service to people with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (IDD). In vision, The True Professional seeks to elevate the professionalism of those who support individuals with IDD in residences. Founded on the concepts of excellence and quality service, The True Professional provides a bespoke development program designed to instill a philosophy of professionalism.

The quality of residential and other community-based programs for vulnerable populations is tied directly to the training and performance of the Direct Support Professionals (“DSPs”) who provide services.  An essential element of our program is cultivating a philosophy of professionalism. This focus ultimately leads to improved quality of service delivery. Despite the DSPs’ dedication, many factors can impede the DSPs’ efforts to provide an optimal quality of service, such as:

  • Limited formal education;

  • Shift isolation;

  • Boundary complexity;

  • Administrative burdens;

  • Compensation; and

  • High attrition, call-outs, and vacancies.

The True Professional Program provides professional development, and mentorship to DSPs to instill a client-centered approach and dedication to excellent quality of service. This program focuses on philosophy, approach, communication, teamwork and practical skill-building, with hands-on learning and post-workshop review and feedback.

The True Professional Team is made up of experts with diverse professional backgrounds and extensive experience with individuals with developmental and other disabilities, both clinically and personally. They have expertise in government programs, client service, creation and delivery of training programs, non-profit organizations, for profit enterprises, legal, and business operations, making them uniquely qualified to develop this program.
